Program Information

  • Trainees should refer to their government sponsor for registration periods. If you are not sponsored by DC or Maryland programs, please contact our box office for pricing schedule.

    Costs for 1 week intensive DMA is $250 per week.

  • Those coming from Summer Youth Employment Programs on contract are reserved seats in our programs and must meet certification rules for their respective sponsor. For most groups that fall under DC, please visit www.summerjobs.dc.gov to check your status.

  • Enrollment is $250 weekly and due at least one week before sessions begin.

    A non-refundable fee of $99 is required to reserve a seat. Seats are very limited.

  • Orientation week is where you are assigned to a trainer or project. During orientation, you learn what types of jobs are available and what it would be like to train in them and schedules.

    Ensure that you have downloaded zoom. Zoom is our main video messaging tool. The studio will email you information as the program date gets closer.

    Please note that some managers may use a different video message for their course, however, you will also be notified of zoom meetings that you’ll need to attend if working remotely.

  • Participate in various workshops ranging from music production, visual arts, photography and more. Our courses are designed based on current trends and will change from year to year.

    Training workshops take place over the course of 4 to 5 weeks immediately after orientation.

  • Our final week allows everyone an opportunity to showcase their work at our summer showcase, usually held during the last week of the program.

Important Dates

  • Once we receive placements from our sponsor, you’ll be registered with us and will receive additional program information as program dates get closer.

  • You’ll learn everything you need to know covering the next 5 weeks of training and work experience. You’ll be assigned to a manager or coach who will guide you during your training.

    Our first day is in person at StudioPlace located 4719 Stamp Rd, Temple Hills, Md 20748. Upon arrival, please provide your placement letter from your sponsor assigning you to our worksite.

  • Work in progress. All participants report to their daily schedules with their assigned manager. Workshops include movie days, trivia, residency, games, and a host of interactive ways to get your creative work going.

  • Our final week of SYEP showcases work participants have done and compete for placement or cash for their work

  • The Music Production Basic program is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to music production for individuals who are new to the field. The program covers the fundamental concepts and techniques used in music production, including recording, mixing, and editing.

    Participants will be introduced to various music production tools and software, and will have hands-on experience working with them to create their own music productions. Throughout the program, participants will receive feedback and guidance from experienced instructors to help them improve their skills and develop their own unique style.

    Upon completion of the Music Production Basic program, participants will have a strong foundation in music production, and will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue further education or career opportunities in the field.

  • The Visual Arts program with a focus on murals is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive training experience in mural painting and industrial arts. The program spans over 6 weeks and covers a range of topics such as the introduction to the program, safety protocols, tools and equipment, and techniques for painting and mural making.

    Participants will have the opportunity to work on individual projects under the guidance of experienced instructors and receive feedback and support from their peers through group discussions. They will also have a chance to showcase their works and explore commissioning opportunities during the final presentation week.

    For those who have current works in progress at home or completed, they may submit for a residency where their works will be transformed into an assignment.

    The Visual Arts program with a focus on murals is a great opportunity for anyone looking to develop their skills in mural painting and industrial arts, and those interested in pursuing a career in the arts.

  • The A&R (Artists and Repertoire) Training program is designed to provide individuals with a comprehensive introduction to the role of A&R in the music industry. A&R professionals are responsible for discovering and developing new talent, as well as overseeing the production and release of music.

    Throughout the program, participants will be introduced to the fundamental concepts and techniques used in A&R, including artist development, music marketing, and music production. They will also learn about the legal and business aspects of the industry, such as music contracts, copyright law, and distribution channels.

    Participants will have the opportunity to work with experienced industry professionals, who will provide guidance and feedback on their work. They will also have access to industry-standard tools and software, which will help them develop their skills and knowledge.

  • Studio Assistant at Studio Place is responsible for providing administrative and operational support for the community of artists at the Studio. The Studio Assistant will work closely with the Studio Manager and the Studio Team to ensure the smooth operation of the facility and the satisfaction of the artists.

    The Studio Assistant will greet and assist artists, visitors, and guests, answer phone calls and emails, assist with event planning and coordination, maintain and organize studio spaces and equipment, monitor and enforce studio policies and procedures, provide general administrative support, and work on projects under the guidance of the Studio Manager.
